The White Sox FO must have used some advanced stat to show that despite the cash ($27 MM paid by Sox), Shields performance (12-23 with a 4.78 ERA and 321 innings over 3 seasons), WAR(-1.1 fWAR), and loss of prospects (Tatis #2 prospect in baseball currently and Erik Johnson), the trade was the right move for the Sox. Just ask any Southsider.
