Yup. They already had him extended, what is the point of going farther and now being forced to pay all that money regardless of career trend or injuries.

Yea, but he is one of the top offensive left fielders in the game. You can't predict injuries, or else nobody would get a long-term contracts.

Obviously. But they had four more years to decide. A lot can happen in those four years, why rush into a lifetime contract? Especially in baseball when it's all guaranteed money.
