Mock my argument all you want, but facts are facts. When Fat Fuck rolled out a half dead shitball lineup the other day, a freaking day game before a day off before a god damn night game, he cashed it in. And everyone saw it. Since then there hasn't been a heartbeat on this team. Not a lick.
And it's not just rookies. In fact Berg has been half ok. But yes, the young arms have imploded, but the vets aren't doing shit either. Everyone is happy to simply ride it out and go through the motions because that is what happened last week. I am not nor claim to be some mastermind, but being outscored a billion to one in the last week signals all have thrown in the towel. So the fact that, without an amazing catch by Fowler, the Cubs were 6 inches away from tying up a game which they trailed 8-1, shows they have no heartbeat? That was, of course, the day after Lee hit a 3 run home run in the 8th to tie a game they had been losing 5-2. Is a team incapable of showing a heartbeat if they lose?
By the way, Lee tied the game with a three run homer, Soriano hit a home run, and came withing inches of tying it up with his second home run of the game, and all of that came after Byrd hit a 2 run triple. Are those the vets that aren't trying?
I'd say they have a heartbeat. I'd also say they suck. The two are not mutually exclusive.
