It's a generality I have stuck in my head that at the age of about 10, you lose the "y". I however, like Andy.
There's a kid on the soccer team I coach, who goes by Kenny. It's pretty much a forgone conclusion that he will not be on the varsity roster.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
For some reason, and it has nothing to do with the fact that I know you and like you on a personal level, Andy doesn't fall into that category because it works as a stand-alone name (like Tony). It doesn't come off as a diminutive version of Andrew.
That said, names like Joey, Vinny, Lenny, Kenny, Johnny, Ricky, Teddy, etc. don't work on any level, and just scream retard.

Unfortunately, half my Dad's side has a name like that.... Everyone in WI calls my Dad, Dan. His family in Chicago calls him Danny. I have uncles and cousins that are Joey, Johnny, Vinny.... that might be an Italian thing though.
