Stephenson played 14 season, Williams 18. Since we've all decided that RBI aren't a good indicator of individual ability, I'm wondering why Stephenson shouldn't be #1?

He was either a part-time player or he was always hurt. He only had over 500 ABs three times in his career.
I honestly don't know much about the guy -- but Billy Williams had over twice as many ABs than Stephenson in only four more seasons.
