My initial take watching it was that he was sort of ranting about everything and anything, so I could almost buy that, but as Ace and Kid pointed out, why would the teammates react the way they have if there wasn't a pattern? Even if he did somehow mean it to fire up the team, you can't give your teammates that much "you screwed up" attitude over that many years and then not expect it to be taken in the wrong way.

I'm not 100% in the Z is all to blame camp, but I am also done defending him at this point. The Suntimes quotes seem to me to be damage control plain and simple from Z's agent. Maybe if his people leak some story where Z is misunderstood, it will make trading him slightly more palatable to other teams, but I'm trying to find something positive right now.
