He said he's a great kid, a hard worker and has a great head on his shoulders. I just thought I'd pass it along from an unbiased source, he thinks really highly of Brett as a player and says he does amazing things on the diamond.
That's a nice endorsement, especially from a Card fan.
All those things are why we made him a first-round pick.
As life would have it, though, that description of him almost reads like a parody of what someone who isn't into stats would say to evaluate a player. (he's a great kid, a hard worker and has a great head on his shoulders...and does amazing things on the diamond).
I hope he continues to kick ass. It's good to see that he's taking walks, has cut down on his K's (though he's still K's once a game), and has a OBP of over .400. And I've never heard anything but praise (even awe) about his skill at playing CF.
Man, I'd love for him to work out.
I think the last decent CFer we've had was Hack Wilson.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
