Stone? Yeah, me too. He was a big part of my fandom, especially back in the '80s and I'll never forget how I felt about him then...but that does nothing to ameliorate the asshole he's become. I was in total support of him in '04. It didn't have to sour me on him when he left or even when he went to the Sox. It's down to the way he's handled things. He's made an ass of himself.
FWIW, I think Piniella's comments regarding Stone's post-playing career may suggest that he HAS been offered jobs but that that he prefers being a cigar-chewing know-it-all than never has to put his ass on the line.

Stone mentioned on the Score a few times yesterday that he actually had been offered several coaching and management type jobs over the years, yet he turned them all down. The only role Stone has ever wanted in baseball other than blowhard is as a part owner. He's been denied a couple of times over the years.
