Z to the Pen

Because Lou has the patience of Corey Patterson on cocaine.

This is no big deal.

Not that it really matters, but Z is 3rd in the NL in K's.

EDIT: and 3rd in all of MLB actually.

I can't add much to the discussion. The idiocy of this decision is beyond adequate description. How exactly is "success" measured here, anyway? If Zambrano puts up a 2.00 ERA from the pen, striking out 9 per 9, I'm gonna be pissed off. You know why? Because he'll be doing it in like 50 innings, instead of 180.

This is only not complete lunacy if this is very, very temporary and if someone else that might have been moved to the pen (from a surplus of SPs) is being dealt for solid middle relief. Maybe the idea is to make sure Lilly is solid, then deal the 6th starter. Even Silva looks marketable right now.

If they trade for a good middle reliever? They'll move Z back.

Relax. This is neither binding nor permanent. The only way it lasts is if EVERYTHING goes right. And then, who fucking cares?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Thats about where I am too. I expect him to be back in the rotation by June.

Or we skip the stupidity, move Gorz to the pen, Lilly to the rotation, and Russell to Iowa . . . and we do it in April.

This is, perhaps, the only explanation/outcome that would not leave me bafflepissed.

I'm not saying it is a smart move or the right thing to do, I'm just saying, I'm not gonna freak out too much because it won't last.

Or, sign Looper to take over Z's spot in the rotation and sending Silva along with Z to the bullpen. Lou can do it all.

At first I thought this was the stupidest fucking thing the Cubs have done since the Soriano contract. However, the more I have thought about it the more I say who gives a fuck. This team is horrible right now and if it doesn't work our team is still horrible. We don't have anything to lose right now.

Well, I just read every response in this thread and there were many many great ones. The one thing that I keep coming back to though is that this is Carlos Zambrano. Right? I just don't understand how you put an all star, no hitting, $91 mil making, 6 time opening day starting, 200 inning throwing, pitcher who I believe has never had an ERA over 4, into the bullpen. I just can't get my mind around that.

Wang.
