New Statue going up at Wrigley September 7
#1
Billy Williams will be honored with a statue at Wrigley field.

The uproar has started with a few who have heard this, because they feel Santo deserves the statue first

I may sound like a dick here, but I don't think we need any more statues around Wrigley, no offense to Billy.

Just some out fielder the Cubs had back in the 60s

They're probably going in order. Williams joined the Cubs a year earlier than Santo.
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

Why, Billy Williams is in the HOF and had his number retired before Santo.

I think even Santo would want a statue of Billy and even Fergie before his own.
Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Exactly. I love Santo and all, but this over done admiration that puts him as a player over Ernie and Billy in a lot of fan's mind, is kind of irritating in situations like these. Santo was a great player and likely should be a HOF, but Billy Williams was way better. In terms of best Cubs players ever, Santo doesn't even crack the top 5.

Personality wise, he's in a league of his own. But as a player?

Also, Santo shouldn't have a statue or his number retired. Not until (if) the HOF calls, that is.
