I think that's where I draw the line. I'd give nearly anything for a World Series win -- including one of my testicles, if necessary.

Sorry...I couldn't enjoy a WS win if it depended on the sorriest excuse for a human being in MLB. Fuck it. I'll start watching cricket.

I think I'd probably figure out a way to live with it.

Hello, 4th OFer, goodbye Dye.

I'm surprised that we haven't even considered a guy like Baldelli for a 4th OF spot. He probably would produce like Reed, but has more upside.

For league minimum though it isn't that bad. He can play all of the OF positions and is pretty good defensively...way better than Dye. Maybe it will free up some money to go after Sheets or maybe go after Orlando Hudson.

This.

And also because I hate hippies (Byrnes).
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

You probably wouldn't like me right now then. I haven't had a haircut for about a year now and I don't like to shave much, so I look a bit Jesus-ish these days .

There is literally zero reason to believe Hendry won't kick the tires on Byrnes. Nothing wrong with that. If he decides, however, that Byrnes IS the guy for the 4th OF spot... then we could have beef.

The JC look isn't what bothers me, but more their general disregard for the American way of life.

I hear you. I may look like a hippy, but I don't think like one. And I definitely don't want Byrnes either.

Hypothetical scenario:

Dye as our 4th OF with Fontenot/Baker 2B platoon

or

Byrnes as our 4th OF with Hudson as our 2B

Now, I don't even know if the Cubs are even remotely interested in Hudson, but if getting Byrnes on the cheap would enable us to sign Hudson then I think that is a much better option than signing Dye to 3 or 4 million a year.
