BTW, the Cubs only have one left handed hitter in the everyday lineup.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Fontenot is as much a starter as is Fuk, particularly if the Cubs sign Dye.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I was counting Fontenot as 1/2 a starter and Fukudome as 1/2 a starter.

Well, then both of our statements are accurate under that premise.

I can't say I've watched a single sox game the last two years or so, but from what my friends who are fans say, what I've heard on the radio, and an article or two i've read all I hear is he is one of the worst fielders in the AL at this point, like soriano with less range and a worse arm. That and the fact the last two years he has faded down the stretch I think I'll pass.

I could see dye being this years Jim Edmonds or Gary Gaetti. I like the idea.

That's exactly what I was thinking. If rested properly, he could have a nice year.

I can't wait for the first Dye/LaHair box score line.

Of course, if the Cubs sign Sheets, the 8-9 slots could be filled somewhere along the line with Fuld/Sheets.

True. And if the Cubs end up signing Pete Vanslawintheass, they can bat Fuk/Vanslawintheass back to back.

Would you rather have Dye for 3-4 million or Byrnes for the league minimum (if the D-Backs release him)?

Incidentally, I have heard that BT also prefers to go buy peter. He pays in quarters.

Dye. Because if he rebounds a little, it will make Sox fans feel bad.
