Bradley traded??

If the Cubs can turn that $6 M into a decent CFer and Silva can be a 5th starter, I don't totally hate the deal.

All along the question was how much of Bradley's salary we'd have to eat and here we're getting cash.

This doesn't look too bad to me even if Silva is worthless. There were far worse outcomes. Silva could surprise...or we could deal him or cut him....any way you slice it, there were worse outcomes.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yeah, I agree, this is pretty much what was expected. Its no different than if we dumped Bradley on a team who was willing to pick up 6 mil of his salary, its better than cutting him. Silva is really a non-factor.

I'm slicing it pretty thin, and I'm still not liking what I'm seeing. At least he's an animal lover:

Yeah, it's the cost savings that are the one bright spot. Then again, if Hendry blows the 6 mil on a multi-year contract for another overrated douche, I will be pissed.

Who is going to trade for Silva? We'll just have to take on another bad deal. It's like a vicious circle.

He'll probably get released next season if he can't pitch. I hate to throw money away, but this was done to clear payroll, not necessarily add value.

If we took on 10 million of the salary, someone might bite. that would still save us another 5 million.

Possibly, but I doubt it. The only thing keeping Silva on a major league roster the last 2 season is his salary.

Hey, if people are willing to give Latroy Hawkins 7.5 milllion, they might be willing to gamble 3-5 million on Silva.

Just looked at Silva's stats, how did he ever get this contract?

He had a couple of good seasons with the Twins, but otherwise is pretty average. His peripherals have always been atrocious.
