I was thinking that as well. However, looking at his career numbers, the guy doesn't walk a whole lot.

I don't think I would be interested in any of those guys over Cameron. Especially if your just talking about a 1 year deal for everyone. Matsui didn't even play in the field this year did he? He isn't even an option for a National league team as far as I am concerned. I think he only played in the field a few times last season even.

I would take those numbers from a centefielder for a one year deal. Especially when you add in his defense. In this market with the players available we could absoutley do much worse than Cameron on a one year deal. Hit him 6th or 7th and I have no problems.

Nady would be interesting if he was healthy. That's the problem with him though.

What is your infatuation with Butler? He has played exactly 6 games in LF...he has never played RF. He is a 1B. Unless you want Butler as a bench bat he has no value to the Cubs.

Dude, Mike Cameron sucks. He really does. I may have exaggerated by bringing up Strap, but I don't exaggerate when I say Cameron sucks. He sucks. I could live with a 37 year old guy who hits .250 and strikeouts 150 times a year if he hit 40 home runs, drove in 100, and walked every once in a while, but this guy does none of those things. He's an average player at best with a decent glove on the down-side of his career. Fuck that shit.

Fuk is an average hitter in right and if Soriano has a similar year this year as he did last year, we could have the worst hitting outfield in the league. Again, fuck that shit.

I just got done reading Wittmeyer's article in the Sun Times. He says Cameron is the number one target and that there probably won't be any starting pitching added. What? Next year is going to be a bad bad bad year. The only positive I can come up with is that I won't have any expectations going in.

2010 is going to be pretty brutal. My only hope is that the Cardinals regress a little and the Brewers/Astros/Reds/Pirates continue to suck.

I also don't see the point of fielding a mediocre team. I'd much rather do a firesale, play some youngsters (along with the mopes we can't get rid of), wait for some guys to develop, and then spend when the FA pool has more talent in it. We might actually have some money to spend at that point, too.

Cameron on a one-year deal may be the best of a bunch of unpalatable options. It's Granderson or bust as far as I'm concerned, but if it's bust, it should be Cameron. He's a far better fit, and performer, than any of the other realistic options.
