Bradley
Straight up, Bradley for Gary Matthews. Jr or Sr.

I'd take Bradley in a heartbeat over Matthews Jr. Bradley maybe a bit of a headcase, but at least he can hit the ball.
I got nothin'.

Yeah, pass on Matthews. I never thought much of him when he was here, and still don't.

I don;t think it would be an awful move. Put K-Fuk back in RF and Matthews in Center and the OF would be much better defensively.

Since Matthews blows at the plate though, we would still need a good bat for 2B or SS.

Bad idea

Looking at all the bad contracts, Soriano (5/$90) doesn't look so bad in comparison to Vernon Wells (5/$98), when you look at their offensive output.

I got nothin'.

Matthews is going to be 36 next season, so if you factor in some decline in ability and the fact that he hasn't been a regular for a few seasons now, I don't think he would add much value to the team in any way, defensive or otherwise.

I'm starting to think we can get away with keeping bradley. Maybe. people were pissed in September, but by February, things will have cooled a bit. I'm not saying people will forget, and certainly Bradley will have a rough time in the field (since we are all racists), but I think it's at least a remote possibility he stays.

I wanted to like Bradley, I wanted him to succeed, I wanted to see him put his psychosis behind him, but I'm not sure any of that is possible anymore. All of the trade options suggested thus far have flaws, the reason I brought up Matthews is that the money is almost equal and Jr wants out of LA.

I also like the idea of a year or two of Orlando Hudson at second base.

He's going to be a fucking nutcase again next season. So even if tempers chill over the winter, it's all going to happen again next season.

He could have kept the psychosis, just produce is all he had to do.

I can deal with nutcase though. Zambrano is a nutcase. Bradley was a couple steps beyond nutcase this year.

I supported Bradley to the very end this season because I wanted so very badly for him to succeed. I don't really care either way if we keep him or not, though.

I'm so tempted to go along with your line of thinking, BT. But it is so Cublike--let's hope that things will change despite the obvious history that it probably won't. I think Bradley should be jettisoned for anything of value. I think it would be the same shit next year, only worse. And mainly because his entire history has indicated that this would be the case.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.
