Good. I hope I was wrong about him wanting more job security.

I've read a little that he's not your typical hitting coach. Hope that's the case, cuz otherwise I'm not sure it makes a difference. One year Gerald Perry was the best hitting coach ever. The next year he got fired. They get too much credit when the team hits and take too much heat when the team can't hit.
I got nothin'.

That's all very true, but I think that one of the reasons for Perry being let go was that he was not himself after the death of his father in the offseason. I'm not blaming all of our hitting problems on him, as injuries and lack of depth played a bigger part on our offensive decline, but I think it was pretty clear that Perry's mind was in a different place, and needed to take time off. Other than that, I agree that hitting coaches are overrated for the most part, but I do think Jaramillo is a good guy to have in the dugout.

I tend to think hitting coaches are very overrated. I may well be wrong - let's see. Can he bring the performance he got in Texas here, without the steroids and without the overbaked ground and the smallish ballpark?

He's supposed to be the best in the business. Let's see.

Until the Cubs add some more cages and an adequate training facility, it doesn't make a difference who the coach is.

Jaramillo was the guy that changed DLee's swing and coached him before the 2005 season, right?

I don't think so. He has been with the Rangers since '94.
