Maybe it had something to do with this article and the 1/4 page graphic listing every World Series winner with the 2009 Winner listed as as "Not the Cubs" that ran on the front page of the Chicago Tribune sports section?

The article isn't that bad but I don't recall them running a headline when the White Sox were eliminated from the playoffs this year.

Well, the Sox did win 4 years ago, so that's not much of a story. 101 years comes with the territory of being a Cubs fan. The media is always going to talk about it until they win... especially if it gets a rise out of people.

101 years isn't a story. Because it's the same fucking story it was last year. I can understand doing something about the century mark. But is 102 years also going to be a story? How about 103? 104? It's lazy and cheap. I'd expect it from a Sox fan or a Cardinals fan. Not from a sportswriter who is supposed to be covering the Cubs. Someone who has access to the team (that we, the fans don't have) chooses to have petty spats with one of our pitchers and write stupid-ass quips about how long it has been since we've won. Cubs fans know how long it has been. Everyone does. Sullivan has the unique opportunity to write about this team for a living and this is how he chooses to do it? I fucking hate his guts and I hope an AIDS tree falls on his fucking head.

I'm not disagreeing with Sullivan being a douchebag. But yes, 102, 103, 104, etc. will be a story until we win. If Sullivan didn't write it somone else would. Also, he is a Sox fan, so you should expect it from him.

I know it will be. But it shouldn't be. People who write for a living should be able to come up with something that isn't so trite and overdone.

I agree- that's why I don't read too many sports articles or listen to too much sports radio.

I don't think Sullivan is even a Sox fan, I think he just hates baseball and knows nothing about the game.

You take this stuff way to personal.

BTW, it's only been 28 years for me, 23ish that I remember.
