Felix Pie's OPS+ numbers in MLB. Of course, the first 2 numbers were as a Cub.
He is 24 years old.

I'm not saying we shouldn't have kept him, in fact I think we should've traded him earlier when he had FAR more market value.

Yeah, I'm board with that - of course, earlier, we thought he was going to be the CFer.

I know. I'm bored with it too. I don't think he was going to succeed here, i think he needed a place where no pressure was on him. Here every thing he did was magnified, but in Baltimore he's not the main focus.

With the Pie post, I wasn't making a statement, I was merely massaging the taint of guys like Butch and rok who always insist that a mediocre player will turn into a star as soon as he sheds his Cub uniform.

Truly, I would have never in a million years guessed that Felix freaking Pie would have a much better season than Soriano. Hindsight is 20/20.
Still, having an OF of Pie, Fuk and Milt would have been a pretty outrageous defensive OF.

Your first statement is nearly 100% accurate.
Your second one is likely wrong.

I truly never see it happening until Soriano not only starts going down hill, but falls down it.

A big factor is simply age: next year, Pie will be 25, the age that most ballplayers either peak, or enter their statistical prime. Next year, Alf will be 34, precisely the age that many/most star players hit a brick wall. Maybe Alf hit the wall a year early, or conversely, maybe he'll rebound and kick ass next year. But Pie's future looks a bit brighter to me, even if you don't count the $100 Million difference in their pay.

oh my god, pie has played 85 games. he won't even bat 300 times this year. he's average at best and he'll likely never be this good again. i don't give a shit about his ops+ or whatever. he blows and he'll always blow and pcb was right on the money. it isn't that we traded him, it's that we waited too long to trade him.

does anyone really believe we'd have been better off with pie this year? seriously? i don't even know why he was brought up. i'm glad he's gone.
Wang.
