Dodgers 8/23

Look how empty that ballpark is. L.A. doesn't deserve a team this good.

Show up on time, asshole Dodger "fans."

Manny poses after any solid contact...just in case.

I love you jstraw.

After sitting through the torture of the last three games, it's really evident. The frequent runs to get nachos and Dodger dogs, along with the people who stand at the rail to take pictures of themselves while Derrek Lee bats, really pisses me off. I don't get it, eat before the game, or buy from a vendor, or don't go to the game at all if you're not going to watch.

Having them playing "Don't Stop Believin'" in the middle of the 8th every game while your friend laughs at you, ain't fun either.

I wish we were in the AL. Angel Stadium is so much better.

Typical. The game I can't go to, we can hit.

So far this year, we've scored 3 runs in 4 games I've been to. I think next year, I'll pass completely.

Goddamit, there must be 20 million people within an hour of that ballpark. You'd think a first place team could draw 20,000 fans for day baseball on a Sunday. It's a disgrace. I know they're a "late arriving" crowd. That just tells me they don't give a shit.

They have die-hard fans that care, they really do. They're just drastically outnumbered by the people who think Either is a sex-symbol, and Manny is a rock star. On Friday, Manny popped out to DLee, the whole upper deck when crazy thinking he homered. That sums it up.

They hit record attendances for a couple reasons:
A) They have a huuuge season ticket base, and that is why they sell about 45,000 tickets to every game, even though there will only be maybe 32,000 in attendance.
They have a 55,000 seat ballpark. While it gives them more room, it also makes it look like more empty seats.

Can this team ever not give the lead back at the first possible opportunity? Dempster is especially guilty of this, this season.

For the record though, they don't leave at the 7th inning as much as they used to.

How can we draft Bryce Harper if we keep winning games? We gotta catch the Nats sooner than later, might as well give up the lead.

On the bright side, this could be our best defensive series of the year. Fuld has made some great plays, Lee has had a few big picks, and Ramirez just made a nice play to get Furcal.

EDIT: If you get rid of the 2 errors by Aramis in this series, we would have won Friday, and be leading today though.

I understand what you're saying but with the population base out there, not only should they easily sell out every game, the unused season tickets for any given game ought to be too valuable not to put on Stub Hub. If the Cubs can put 40k in the park every day with their product, this product ought to draw 55k in L.A. without breaking a sweat....or at least 45-50k.

Totally agree. I'd love to see that.

It's also a culture thing too though. The LA Sports culture isn't like the midwest, where sports are king. Even USC and UCLA struggle drawing fans. Before Pete Carroll, SC would draw about 55,000 a game. Now theyre getting almost 90,000 when UCLA gets about 60 on good days. The Lakers are the ONLY team that has no problem at all in selling out, and it will always be like that. I hate it, but it's how it is.

There's nearly 20 million people with access to the games like you said, but there's so many things to do, and a culture that is more set on entertainment than sports. So that's what happens.

Looking at soccer too, big teams like Manchester United, Inter Milan and Chelsea can't sell out the LA Coliseum or Rose Bowl, but Chivas de Guadalajara and Club America from Mexico City can, along with Barcelona. Again, it's the sports culture that is different amongst the Hispanic community.

Manny went to the same left-fielder's camp as Soriano.
