Peavy Talk
Hendry hands out no trade clauses like their candy at Halloween.

I'm not sure if I'd be happy about dealing away DeRosa. I would think Fontenot could put up similar numbers, but there's just something about DeRo that I like, and he's certainly more versatile.

Plus, with our luck, he's probably going to have a monster year if we trade him

Lee, Ramirez, Zambrano, Fuk, Samardzija all have full no trade clauses. I think there's a couple more who have partial NTCs also.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->The Twins have entered the Jake Peavy trade mix, as they're interested in acquiring Mark DeRosa.
The Phillies were the team in line to land DeRosa in a potential four-team swap, but the Twins have enough young pitching to present a desirable package. According to La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Cubs and Padres will present the Twins with a list of pitchers they desire. DeRosa, 34, hit .285 with 21 homers and 87 RBI last season and would likely play third base in Minnesota.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

La Velle E. Neal strikes again. What was the deal with him last offseason? Maybe we can get Kubel included.

Exactly. He can't go.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

Now is the best time to trade DeRosa. He is only sined for one more season. He is at the peak of his value. Sell high, buy low. But only do it if you can improve the team for this season as well as the future.

And for those that say DeRosa is irreplaceable, you're wrong. He's been great, but if it means we can get Peavy and a stud LFer, you make that trade. Sign him back next year if you want him back.

Apparently Levine said on ESPN 1000 that it's never been closer. Has info on his blog too

He also mentions Hendry is working on a trade for an OF. Some dude on NSBB claims its Hermida.

I agree that it may not be dramatic, and perhaps he's that one-in-a-thousand position player who improves during his 30's. But the odds are decidedly against that, and baseball logic dictates that we should trade him now, at his relative peak in value.

Because of Utley's injury, the Phils are probably desperate for a fill-in 2nd baseman type, and we have TWO guys who fit that bill pretty well, so I do see them as a good trading partner.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

i don't think anyone has suggessteed that derosa would improve. theres no reason to think he won't bat in the neighborhood of .280, 15, 80 however.
