<!--quoteo(post=53808:date=Jul 30 2009, 03:16 PM:name=Andy)-->QUOTE (Andy @ Jul 30 2009, 03:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->He's got a decent era, but he walks WAY too many. He's got modest splits against lefties, but walks almost as many as he K's. If they just want a warm body lefty, you'd assume they could find someone in the minors??<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
"The lefty set-up man is 3-0 with a 3.42 ERA for last-place Pittsburgh, with 41 strikeouts and 28 walks in 47 1/3 innings"

To be fair 28 is not quite equal to 41. If it was like 38 I'd have let it go.

Kasper just said it was close as well. We don't have a good history trading for middle relief at the deadline...but we do need another lefty.

As for the Pirates, they have been trading for young talent for years. ESPN showed "what their team could be" graphic if they had held onto some of these guys and they'd be pretty solid. And a lot of the guys they've traded aren't that expensive on their new teams. It must be hard being a pirates fan.

Did anyone see the graphic on Sportscenter yesterday? They showed what the Pirates Lineup would look like if they wouldnt have traded all those players away. They would be unstopplable. They had A Ram at third. LaRoche at 1st. Nate McLouth. Jason Bay, Xavier Nady.

I think that Butch has a list of White Sox fans in his house.

Question is, does it contain PCB?

If we didn't give up much, I really like getting Gorzelanny right now. We've already hit one jackpot with the Pirates of a talented guy that they gave up on too quickly.

Gorz just turned 27 a couple weeks ago and is 4-3 with a 2.48 ERA in 15 AAA starts this year. He also pitched over 8 innings out of the pen this year, and has allowed only a .649 OPS to lefties in 293 plate appearances in his career. Remember just 2 years ago he went 14-11 with a 3.88 ERA.

Heck, he might be the better lefty in the pen than Grabow to do what we've been hoping for. I think this dude could make a difference for us this year.
