soi keeper fantasy football

I'm still interested and will sign up as soon as I get back from vacation on sunday night. Most of the settings discussed so far are fine with me, I've played with alot of different settings and don't really perfer one system over the other.

The thing I am interested to see get decided is the keeper system since I have never played a football keeper league before. I think three keepers is a good number given the size of the roster. I also like the idea of the pick being sacraficed being relative to the slot the keeper was initially drafted with a minimum pick of 6th round or so.

I like the idea of the Keeper moving up a draft round each year like BT had mentioned. I'm not sure how to make that work while drafting online, but I'd guess we'd be able to figure it out. 3 max keepers sounds good to me.

I don't know how you'd do it with a live draft format on Yahoo. I guess it's not important for the first year, but I'm thinking we'd probably have to move it to another site that handles keepers for the 2nd year.

yahoo has a keeper feature, but it won't allow me to set it up until after the draft. I have no idea what options we'll have. I'll see if I can find out. Of course we could always just declare our keepers ahead of time, making those players off limits for others to draft them, and each team would take the players in each of the necessary rounds during the online draft.

i'm not sure we'd be able to see the previous years' draft results to remember which keepers were selected when but someone would just have to remember to print it out after we're done. i'm sure it works the same but if you trade for a player that was drafted by a different owner, you miss the corresponding pick he would have lost had he kept the player , right?

I think we can swing it. As long as everyone knows who their keepers are, and what round they need to be drafted in, we can simply run the draft as usual, but that person will be forced to take their keeper when their turn comes up in the proper round. In other words, if I keep Forte in the 3rd round, no one can draft him, and when my third round pick comes up, I'll be forced to take Forte. As long as we keep a spreadsheet of the draft each year as a backup, we will be fine.

That is correct. You draft Lee Evans in the 10th round in 2009. You trade him to me during the season. If I want to keep Evans, I will have to save him in the 9th round in 2010.

I kind of like the idea of all players moving up a round if they are chosen as a keeper. If not, I think you'd have to put a limit on how many years a player can be kept.

You can do both. We move guys up a round, but after I drafted Kurt Warner in the 15th round in his first year, we decided to limit all contracts to 3 years. In football that's a lifetime.
