Cubs vs Nationals 07/16/2009

Somebody was recently trying to tell me the Cubs are worse than the Nationals right now. No, they're not. This is how the Nationals look every single game. They're the worst fundamental team around and they have zero talent outside of that.

The homer's fine, the walk isn't. Why 3-1 sliders up 4 in the 9? Let them hit at somebody.

Overall, the Cubs looked like they should against these guys through 1 game. Gregg aside maybe. Good stuff, Harden was awesome.

Awesome win to start the 2nd half. I can only remember 1 other game(vs. Jurrjens) that we won this year where I really expected us to lose. Very good chance at winning this series now. Scott Olsen scratched from tomorrow's start as well, Craig Stammen starting.

Yeah. Their home record coming in was just half a game better than our road record. I'll be happy with any win we get, especially on the road. I'm quite excited about this win.

The Nationals have lost 62 games so far and are on pace to lose 114 games this year. Plus the nats are averaging almost an error per game - .95 errors per game. They are not a good team. The Cubs may not have been good so far but they have no business losing to the Nationals. It's baseball so anything can happen but this is the type of series - against a weak opponent - - that the Cubs need to win to get back into the swing of a playoff hunt.

The point was they're basically, or at least have been about even teams given the situation(nats at home, cubs on road), and the Nats are much better than that when Lannan's on the mound. As I said, he's yet to lose a game there. Any win you can get on the road in baseball is a good win. You hope to play around .500 on the road, win a lot more at home. And it's baseball. The best team is going to lose to the worst team once every few games, it happens. 3 out of 4 against anybody is a terrific series, I'd be ecstatic with it. One game at a time.
