<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->As Lou Piniella was saying on Friday, enough's enough. Get Carlos Zambrano out of here, even if the Cubs have to give him away. He's not the guy you want as the ace of a curse-busting team, and at this point, it's wishful thinking that he'll ever mature into one.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
He wants to put him on waivers. What a fucktard.

There would be a long list of teams willing to take him if they want to move him. They don't have to waive him - just ask him where he'd waive his NTC to go.
Carlos is a headcase - I don't think anyone doubts that. But he is a legitimate front of the rotation guy.

I don't think anyone on this roster is untouchable including Z, but Rogers is fucking deliusional.

Wow, Rogers is an idiot. He's a bigger tool than I am.

No he isn't. Legitimate front of the rotation guys are guys like Billingsley, Santana, Haren, Lincecum, etc.....Zambrano is a #2 at best these days. He does not have the makeup to be an ace. Unfortunately, we have no one that can be the ace of this team so Z gets it by default. But he is by no means a front of the rotation guy (by front of rotation I mean #1).

I agree. Z is far too unpredictable and unreliable to be a number 1.

I interpreted "front of the rotation" as #1 or #2, so I think this may just be a difference in how you guys view the term.
And even if cherp meant only a #1 guy, even though he isn't an "ace" per se, there aren't enough of those true ace guys to go around among all contending teams. I think Zambrano can be the best pitcher on a World Series team, as long as you have a good rotation behind him, which the Cubs do.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

I'd be all for busting this team up and starting anew with Ricketts. That said, we have very few valuable pieces considering we overpaid many of the Veterans. I'd rank our top 5 in trade value (ML only) as the following:
1. Soto
Huge drop-off
2. Marmol
3. Lilly
4. Marshall
5. Wells
Due to the market of baseball, very few teams are brining in $10+ Million players. So, I'm sure we'd get 50 cents on the dollar for Zambrano and Lilly. Z makes #1 starter money $17.75 - 19.25 million through 2013, I really can't see us getting much of anything for him unless we eat a portion of that money.
And the following guys we are stuck with until their contract ends.
Lee (2010)
Bradley (2011)
Fukudome (2011)
Dumpster (2012)
Soriano (2014)

Thie thread is retarded. Like the problem with the Cubs is the starting rotation that leads the MLB in quality starts. Also, Zambrano's an ace, you're goofy to think otherwise. He's the #1 starter on a majority of teams and a #2 on the rest. Phil Rogers is also handicapped and shouldn't have a job.

Can you name 30 better SPs in baseball?
I cant. There are some guys having better seasons than Carlos, but don't tell me you'd really take Duke, Vazquez, Davis or Lilly over him.
#1....#2....he is a front of the rotation guy at some spot. A team that wants to win a WS needs to have multiple guys of this calbre. His stuff is #1 calibre. His mental makeup isn't. But either way, my point was that even with his contract, if the Cubs were to waive him, there would be a long list of teams that would want him - probably including the Sox.

When you're mentally handicapped, no, you should not be writing for a paper.

I don't think anyones untouchable, but who could we get in return for Z. I've been sitting here thinking about it, going over prospects and good young hitters on teams who can afford Z and on teams who need starting pitching and it's really limited. Can anyone think of a dream scenario for trading Z?

The Phillies need pitching, we need hitting. Utley for Zambrano straight up. Dream scenario.
