I didn't even realize it was coming out this year. I guess June 26. Anyway, here's a poster for it.

Is it ironic that even your poster is invisible?

Yeah it's gonna be kickass. The first one shocked me by how enjoyable it was. More Megan Fox, more action, more splooge for Clapp.

Just like any Michael Bay movie, the first one had kick ass special effects. Otherwise I didn't care for it.

Agreed.

took the boy to see this on imax tonight. place was fucking packed. i really liked it, for what it was. bay decides when spending this much money they really need to seem like they have a deep plot. the story does get a bit convoluted and they get a little bit too into the plot than was necessary but the action was pretty damn cool. i hate action movies, and most cgi, but i let it slide here, maybe because i loved transformers as a kid. the cgi is usually pretty good, you know it's fake anyways so you just go with it. sometimes there's just so much metal flying around, though, that it's hard to keep track of what's actually happening, even on imax. some of the fight/transforming scenes are just too cool that you can kind of forgive the dumb love story angle and the obligatory good govt./bad govt. plotline.
i really liked the parents in the first one and the interaction between them and mr luhbeauff is pretty good in this one too. and megan motherfucking fox. jesus fuck, the first scene she's in is legendary, and on imax it's just right there and ready to be worshiped. also, john turturro is back at his john turturro-eist, good stuff. 3 out of 5 and as far as cgi-micheal bay-blow em ups go, maybe 4 out of 5. this may also be based on the fact that i had a blast watching it w/ my kid.
Life is a bitch, but she's totally doable.

Think I'm taking my son this weekend. And did I see right that Linkin Park did the score? Christ it might be hard to stomach that.

in the end credits i saw linkin park in there somewhere but most of the music is behind the sounds of explosions and transforming stuff so, to be honest, i didn't notice it much

Saw it on opening night. It was way over the top compared to the first, which I was pleasantly surprised with, but still decent for what it's supposed to be. It isn't nearly as bad as all the critics make it out to be.
If you can get past the first 20 minutes of unbridled cheese, then you'll be ok. 2.5 stars.

Wow. 2.5 hours. Does it drag on at all? I hope my son has the patience for that long of a movie.

It kind of drags in the last 30-40 minutes, and you experience a little action fatigue, but overall it moves at a decent pace. It's really geared toward 8-12 year old boys, so your son should be ok. |
