This team is not going anywhere without a shakeup--maybe after a 4 game winning streak is not the time to have it. But after the next 4 game losing streak...perhaps.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
The team went places the past 2 years... I don't know how you can be so confident that this team is going nowhere.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

40 years of observation--that's why. Absent a major move, the Cubs will finish no higher than 3rd--write it down.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I'll write down, but you'll probably be wrong. This team is still built to win, I just think they'd be better equipped if someone else was calling the shots.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I'd love to be wrong. I would take no pleasure in being right about this. But it's almost the end of June and the Cubs are nothing but mediocre--even in a shitty division.
I'm 100% fine with this. I'm just glad there's an actual plan in place that isn't, "Let's load up on retreads and hope we get lucky." I'm a little tired of that plan.

And other than Ramirez--what else are they missing at this point?

It seems unlikely though that all the guys who have been slumping will stay cold for the next 3 months, but I guess it could happen.

Currently, Johnson and Guzman too.

Also without Ramirez, it causes the Cubs to not have a regular 3B or 2B and completely fucks the lineup. Getting him back puts everyone where they should be defensively and changes everyone's spot in the lineup minus Soriano and Lee.

Ramirez will be well or he won't be...beyond that, the only moves I care about are in the bullpen. We need to add a decent lefty. I'm tired of sweating out Marmol and Gregg. Give me Guzman and Asciano. Sad to say but firing Gerald Perry has already been paying off. I'd like to see Lou show some fire but not GET fired.

I guess it is being optimistic to think that players will start to hit closer to their career averages, and that our best hitter will be a boost to the lineup....

You are right, I'm chugging that Kool-Aid!

Without making a single move, the Cubs (at worst) are gonna be in contention into September, without a doubt.
