Anyone know why Demp is scheduled tomorrow and Z Thursday? The probable pitchers for the week shows Wells squeezed out.

before date after
Z 6-16 PPD
Demp 6-17 Demp
Wells 6-18 Z
Harden 6-19 Harden
Lilly 6-20 Lilly
TBA 6-21 TBA
TBA 6-22 TBA

I wonder how this will play out for next week.

I don't know the answer, but welcome aboard.

I think Lou mentioned that they didn't want to push Dempster back any further than they already had. He prefers not to go more than 5 days between starts.

I'm sure Wells will pitch the 21st, barring any more rain outs.

I'd rather bump Wells over anyone else, right?

Yeah, you're better off with your veteran starters against the Sox. Plus, Wells looked awful the last time out.

That's because other than his handful of good starts to his MLB career, there's not indication that Wells is anything but average. The other shoe is gonna drop on this guy and I'd guess it happens soon.

I don't know if it's worth it's own thread, but Pedro Martinez said today that his agent is negotiating with the Rays and the CUBS.

Why are we looking for SP? Pitching is not our problem. Maybe we should be chasing after a bat.

I agree. In fact, I was surprised to read that, especially since Pedro has been downright weak for a couple years now. What does he add?

I'll only take him to put him in the pen. I'll take him over Patton any day.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.

On the radio yesterday they said that the Cubs did this so that Dempster didn't have to travel with the team on the next road trip and he can be with his daughter. I'm not sure if that's the case or not - but that's what they said on the radio.
