His slider is usually 83-86, only 5-7 mph slower than his fastball.

Really, the only difference between Dempster this year and last year so far is the home runs allowed. About everywhere else he's right where he was, aside from a slightly higher walk rate(which has been much better since his first few starts) . He's allowed 7 in just over 50 innings this year, 14 in over 206.2 last year.
