You guys are a little over the top. Gregg is a decent closer. He makes things interesting. So for he's 1 for 2 in save situations. He also finished last night's game. He definitely makes me nervous but thats just the way he has always been. Gregg's fine. I hope Lou continues to send him out in the 9th because we need Marmol in the 7th and 8th.

BTW, before the trading deadline, one of the other guys could assert himself (ala Marmol a couple years ago) and become set-up or closer material. Guzman, Hart, the Shark...we do have a few candidates. Plus, didn't we spend our #1 last year on a closer? How's he doing?

I never wanna see Hart with the big league club again ever.

I've hated Gregg from the get-go, but only because I feel that Jim said to himself, (like ruby), "Eh, Gregg, Kerry Wood...no difference. Might as well save a couple mil."

But logically, I know that he's been a pretty decent reliever in the recent past. Nobody could be this bad. Relievers tend to be streaky. Hopefully, he'll settle down soon.
I think he will.

Wood also got rocked and lost the game on opening day and then blew a save shortly after and people were saying he shouldn't be closer.

That does look pretty weak. Maybe between that, Wood's quest for $10 mil, and his hideous injury history, Jim did some good PR work by saying he wanted Wood to solidify his financial future.
Anyway, I think Gregg will be what we thought he'd be; a Borowski-type who usually comes through, but takes a couple years off your life doing it.

Yep, he also struck out the side on 13 pitches last night.

Too bad he will be on the DL by mid-May.

90% seems a little low.

and lets break down greg's game last night.

1. it was a non-save situation and for whatever reason, closers seem to struggle in those.
2. he got the first two guys out easily before giving up a solo home run with a 4 run lead.
3. the next batter hit a line drive that should have been caught. that should have been the game right there, but sparkle misplayed it badly.
4. he walked braun. no excuse for that.
5. he struck out the most feared hitter on the team on, i believe, 4 pitches.

when you look at it like that, it really wasn't all that bad a performance.

Actually, when you put it that way, it doesn't look too bad, at all. Even walking Braun isn't so terrible...considering that he's their best hitter, Gregg can be excused for pitching him carefully.

Walking someone to bring the tying run to the plate in the form of Prince Fielder isn't really excusable -- I don't care if it's Ryan Braun or Ted Williams. Make him put it in play.

I don't mind the Braun walk either, KB. Prince is way more of a strikeout candidate and can only hit for power, thus he fell into Gregg's lap.
I hate my pretentious sounding username too.
