Monsters vs. Aliens

Saw it today with my son. Pretty good show. Saw the 3-D version. It was the first 3-D I've seen in a long time. It's come a long way since the days of the shitty red-blue cardboard glasses.

How old is your son? My daughter wants to see it, but I'm not sure if she's too young. And if she goes my son will want to go, too. They are 5 and 3. Too young for this one?

I haven't seen it myself, but I've heard kids will like it although some jokes will go over their heads.

dude, if you take your kids to see any movie, they're gonna enjoy it. at that age, just being there is cool enough. i used to take my kids to movies like this at that age and they loved it. plus, you'll be surrounded by other kids the same age, so making noise and crying won't be aa problem. bring aspirin though. you'll need it.

I was more concerned with how many poop jokes (and the like) that they might be exposed to. It's rated PG -- not G. Yes, I'm an overprotective parent.

My son is 7, Butch. As far as the content, I didn't think it was all that bad. I can't really recall anything that I would consider distasteful for small children. I think shit has to be pretty damn wholesome to get a G rating. This has a lot of action, destruction of things, and a few aliens getting their asses kicked. That's considered violent I guess, which likely is the reason for the PG rating.

Butch, took my 4.5 year old. She loved it. There were no curse words. Some violence of course including death. But I thought it was a pretty decent movie. She didn't get a lot of it. We saw the non 3D version.

Yeah...I took my kids on Friday. We saw the 3-D version. My 5 year old totally dug it and my 3 year old did pretty well. For some reason, with about 15 minutes left in the movie, the 3 year old just completely lost interest in the entire experience and started messing around with his glasses, standing up, telling me he is tired and needs to lie down, etc. I think maybe he got overstimulated with the whole experience and just hit a wall.

However, he stuck it out and overall it was a good time. I'm glad I took the risk.

IIRC, Bob said, "Boobies" once. Not that big of a deal, but my kids are at the age where they repeat everything. The last thing I want is Elizabeth talking about boobies at preschool...
