The gift that keeps on giving

QUOTE (rok @ Apr 3 2009, 02:45 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Even though he's better suited for the AL because of the DH, he might thrive in the NL against weaker pitching. Anyway, let's see how much they play him.
I was thinking the same thing, rok. If his bat is a little slow, NL pitching may help him look respectable.
I wonder if Minaya thinks that his clubhouse is already so filled with stars that it can withstand Sheff's brooding, volatile personality. Do the Mets really have big holes in the corner OF spots? They may, I don't know.
Also, their new Citi ballbark my be a decent hitter's park, for all we know, and won't depress offensive stats as vigorously as Shea did.

Interesting experiment, but I'm glad Jim didn't bite.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance

Absolutely.

This was on Rotoworld and made me laugh hysterically. Is someone from here doing the Rotoworld updates?

QUOTE Jonny Gomes was told by the Reds that he won't be on the roster when it's released today.

Congratulations to Cincinnati on having an athletic bench to match it's athletic lineup: Jerry Hairston Jr., Darnell McDonald, Paul Janish, Laynce Nix and Ryan Hanigan. The one member of the group with any power has a career OBP of .274, so manager Dusty Baker won't ever have to worry about the bases being clogged up.

First start of the year and Harang has already thrown 114 pitches. His arm will fall off by June.

Even worse, it was only 5 innings. Throwing that many pitches in 5 innings is a lot worse than doing it in 7 for example. It's laughable, and this is why this team won't perform as well as they're capable of.

Jerry Hairston Jr isn't on the bench, he's starting in LF and leading off today

They're actually paying Baker $3.7 Mil a year. I would guess he's one of the top 3-4 highest-paid skippers.
I guess the title of this thread says it all, but I almost feel sorry for Reds fans. It's so unfathomably bad that it stretches human reason.

fuck reds fans. if i was a red fan, i would have seen them win in '70, '75, '76, and '90. i would have been pretty young the first few times but that '90 season would have been burned into my conscience. i would be a whole man now, instead of the half man i am. i'd know joy.

Good point. Fuck those whiny bitches. We'll really start to hate them when Dusty is finally canned, and that core of young players they have start to mature.
Fuck the communists (Reds) with a stick.

Plus, they have Jocketty in as GM now. As soon as Dusty rides off into the sunset, that franchise should really take flight.
