Yeah, I thought that too, but his career is almost exactly like DeRosa's (pre-Cub)...he's really never been a full-time player, even last year.

Also, at this point, Wigginton might take less money. There's a LOT of excellent players still walking around without a contract...it's less than a month till pitchers and catchers report, and human nature being what it is, a lot of these unemployed fellows must be thinking desperation thoughts.

He should at least be on our radar. He probably is, in fact.

I agree. I just think he probably feels like that with his last three years, he deserves a shot to play somewhere every day. A 3-year average of .279/.336/.492 with 23 home runs and 68 RBI probably should warrant a chance to get 500-600 at bats from someone. Last I read the Phillies were interested, especially if Feliz continues to have back issues. Is Feliz that good of a defender that he should be playing over Wigginton or is Wigginton that bad with the glove?

Uribe filled in for Crede last year for about 3 months last year and he was stellar. He's worlds better then Cedeno.

1. Wigginton will go somewhere where he'll get a lot of playing time, that wouldn't be with the Cubs. The Cubs might be the absolute worst team he could go to.

2. We can't afford Wigginton and an at least solid pitcher.

CC mentioned it in the Bullpen thread but I wouldn't mind getting Brendan Harris as a backup infielder but I'm not sure the Twins are looking to trade him. Who else is out there as a free agent? Aurilia? Nomar?
