MLB News & Notes (other than Cubs or Sox)
Smyly looked pretty good today for them, but I wonder if they'd part with him (among others) at this point for Garza.

Hi,

I just checked the Red Sox website and Byrd is hitting .324. Oh well.

Glad for him I guess because he would have been gone anyway. He likely would have brought a bit more in a trade however.

Mat Gamel is out for the year with a torn ACL.

I'm kinda pissed. I had a bet going with a Brewer fan friend where I had LaHair vs. Gamel in OPS, but only if they both reach 300 PA.

Longoria out with hammy tear. Expected to be out 6-8 weeks. That's a bitch as hamstrings rarely heal completely and get aggravated frequently. Specially if return from injury is rushed.

I don't think that's the case.

Jered Weaver just finished off a no-no. However, it doesn't count and no one cares because it is on the west coast.

Hi,

You are probably correct. Only thing I had hoped was a couple teams might want him so we might have a semi bid process or something.

Brewers are doing their best to move into last place in the Central behind the Cubs. Nothing would please me more....

They're a mess and can't stay healthy at all. Gallardo and Wolf have been awful for the most part. K-Rod has blown ass. Axford has been so-so. Manny Parra and Kameron Loe have been their best pitchers thus far. Lucroy leads the team in OBP. Let that sink in for a little bit....

I don't want the Brewers to finish behind the Cubs, for draft pick purposes. They don't need another hot prospect.
