Dodgers in 5 with Yankees giving up 5 in the 5th while Cole had been cruising
Dodgers - and Yankees and Mets - will likely be opening their wallets and grabbing every starter in free agent market worth pursuing.
Hmmmm, wonder if Jed can find some retreaded starters out of Mexico or maybe Korea to complete Cubs free agency shopping list.

One good thing about the Dodgers and Yankees in the WS is that it shows how effective spending lots of money on good players can be. If the Guards snuck in there, it would confirm Jed's "intelligent spending" worldview.
Not that I expect him to behave any differently...

I’m waiting to hear that the ‘Dodgers wasted tons of money last season and could have won the series on less than 2/3’s of their salary total’ tale
Yes, significant portions of Dodgers spending never factored into either playoffs nor regular season as their roster was decimated by injuries. Fortunately, Dodgers had both a robust backups and minor league prospects which they scouted and developed to fill in when their stars had injuries or underperformed
Hell, 58 percent of the Dodgers playoff innings were thrown by relievers - can not be a rationale for Jed to avoid high priced talented starters and find more reclamation project (cheap) relievers

One of the benefits of being a rich team is that you can spend a lot on a player and if that player ends up not being effective or ends up being injured, it doesn't sink your chances. It's absurd how the narrative of Heyward's contract handcuffed the team endured for so long. It only handcuffed the team because they pretended it did. They could've easily absorbed that contract and several more just like it.
