Having Chapman certainly would've helped, but I think if Alzolay had repeated his 2023 performance, and a couple of the other bullpen arms were more consistent in the first half, we'd probably be sneaking into the postseason right now. We lost so many games that our bullpen pissed away, at least 6 games for sure.

Really getting tired of Ricketts and Hoyer combo running this team. All their talk about spending wisely and giving the biggest contract in Cub history to Swanson who is no superstar will get you a .500 team most seasons. The only way they sniff playoffs is if other teams have down years in the division or striking gold in the minors with multiple people that they didn't expect to produce.

It's getting old sitting out the postseason. Feels like it has been ages.

Hoyer is likely done next season. Guessing if Cubs get off to slow start, Ricketts will consider canning him at some point in the season just to see if it makes a difference in attendance figures. Won’t make a damn bit of difference to end results as team is only as good as its roster

Going to a charity investment conference next Tuesday, and Ricketts will be part of a sports investing panel/fireside chat. Guessing he won't share much info on next year's payroll.

Guessing he won't share much info on next year's payroll. Still processing today's event. So Ricketts was extremely unimpressive, to be kind. His answer to the moderator's first question about when his family was going through the process of buying the team was just a bunch of financial drivel about recurring cash flows, extracting revenue from new sources, owning the real estate and the iconic brand. It took him 10 minutes, no exaggeration, before mentioning anything about loving the team and it being the only baseball franchise they would entertain owning. He honestly seemed detached and disinterested, an empty vessel. Not feeling so good about the franchise. What a giant tool.

Bleh...that's disheartening, but not surprising. Thanks for filling us in, Rok.

What happened to this dude? This isn’t what he was like at all when they first bought the team.

Yeah, Ricketts had a role to play and he played it well. Family was able to take over large portions of old time real estate with city providing assistance at times. Now, the team and real estate is a cash cow and family seems more focused on politics and other realms

Good for Happ. He's always been a solid player and a super likable guy.
