Cub Game Comments
Not throwing curveballs middle-middle to every batter would be a good start.

Christ almighty, nothing is easy with this rotation.

How much of that is on Ross? Taillon was clearly gassed and up to nearly 100 pitches. Why try to squeeze one more out with him?

Fucking hell.

This is just so typical.

Why do I trust Gomes to come through for rbi late in games more than both corner outfielders combined?

Because he comes through

Cubs win!

He kept Smyly in at least an inning too long last night as well. I get that the bullpen is taxed, but it's a manager's job not to allow a game to get out of hand. Ross is a little too trusting of his veteran staff.

It sure would be nice if the Brewers could lose a game.

I’m a little concerned Steele is wearing down.

Anyone else find it a bit strange that Stroman is at home in Tampa? Team in middle of a pennant race and he’s at home with fractured rib cartilage.

Pitchers are a strange lot and Stroman has been a bit out there but after all his ‘I love team, organization, etc.’ stuff would expect him either with squad or at Cub facilities e.g. AZ

Guess he’s done for season and potentially with the Cubs

Perhaps they told him to go home and rest for the remainder of the road trip. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions yet, but I'd be shocked if Stroman didn't exercise his option for 2024 after this injury, if in fact it is season-ending.

I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist, but I would bet that Stroman did something stupid (a la Madison Bumgarner) that led to his broken rib. Fielding ground balls doesn't result in a cracked rib. He's been kind of vague when discussing the injury and kind of talks around it. It sucks because we really needed him down the stretch -- removing him from the rotation (assuming he's "normal" Stroman and not the 9+ ERA Stroman) hurts a lot.

All in all though, I gotta admit this team is a lot better than I thought they'd be.

They've been pretty fun to watch, especially because I was not expecting very much from them.

When did Mitch Keller become Roger Clemons?

No kidding. He hasn't even broken a sweat into the 7th.
