Cubs aren’t good but they aren’t terrible either - which was what most expected

The record in one run games and avg with RISP suck ass but starting pitching has been much better than expected as have runs scored so far.

Hate losing to the Cardinals but Cubs at least were competitive that’s all we should expect from the roster at this point even with Mervis, Amaya, and Morel on roster

Possibility exists that Taillon sucks.

Well, this got ugly in a hurry.

Taillon doesn’t suck but he doesn’t have it right now

Can recall when I was awaiting Suzuki to come off the IL so offense could get going. Boy, am I an idiot.

Love that warning track power

Thank you, Chris

Morel 422ft to CF to tie it up

This team is really hard to watch. All of the most annoying things are commonplace with this team. Not hitting with runners on base, hitting into double plays, losing games in the late innings, losing 1-run games. I would rather they just be flat-out terrible so I can fully ignore them.

Getting beat back-to-back by a Cards which had been struggling blows.

Failing to score in bases loaded situation with veterans taking at bats repeatedly demonstrates how the “vets signings” continue to hurt the offense.

Management finally calling up the young guns for this series shows the importance of the series but Cubs are squandering the opportunity while giving the Cardinals faith.

My expectations for today’s game - and upcoming road trip - are low but it would be nice to be pleasantly surprised by this roster.

Hosmer's AB in the first inning really stands out to me. Flaherty was struggling, he had just loaded the bases, his control was shaky...and Hosmer showed zero patience and swung at the first thing he saw. Did he go to the plate without any gameplan whatsoever? First pitch, GIDP, inning over, rally over. That completely changed the momentum and feel of the game.

I'm also beginning to wonder if Ross is cut out for this job.

Butchie, you're just now beginning to wonder that?

Well...he hasn't really had much to work with the last few years, so I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt.

That's a good point, but yeah he doesn't exactly inspire confidence with some of these decisions and lineups.
