Those are almost as cool as the koozie MAGA ones that Brad Parscale was hocking the other day.

I kinda like 2 of them. Don't care for the middle one at all. At the very least these will make some interesting collector's items years from now.

I'd rather wear a Cardinals death mask.

If the 2020 season is played and DH is implemented in NL, Cubs will be kicking themselves for not figuring out a way to keep Castellanos for the season.
Watched a quick ESPN blurb regarding how the DH rule could have major implications on NL Central which didnt mention the Reds and Nick - massive oversight. According to blurb, Cubs were seen as one of most improved due to Schwarber getting to play his natural position. Unfortunately, Brewers with Braun, Cards with Carpenter/Fowler, and Reds with Nick are all probably in better position as the increase in Schwarbers ABs would have probably not have been significant. More concerned with greater effect on exposing weakness in Cubs pitching than on Cubs offense.

Quote: You make it sound like he would have taken a 1 year deal. I doubt they'd have done anything differently even knowing there'd be a half season with the DH rule. If there is a DH, the biggest positive would be improved defense, which would be nice. Defense the way they played in '16 maybe.

Assuming it matters, how on God's green Earth would they have known a global pandemic would have forced the DH into the NL?

You're not aware that Theo not only receives but also often drafts National Intelligence memos. Nick signed deal with Reds in late January. Theo was cranking out covid related intelligence briefings for the President about the same time. Very disappointed that he couldn't connect the dots between the potential pandemic and NL DH. Guessing if Nick would have waited till February, Theo would have had enough time to connect the dots and sign Nick to a one year deal. Yup, Theo just needed a few more days and Cubs offense could have been a potential juggernaut Damn!

DH be damned, there is not a reason in the world to think that ownership authorized sufficient funds so that the front office could have re-signed Castellanos.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

Not Tom Ricketts' most convincing performance. He thinks we are too dumb to understand their other Cubs-related businesses provide him and his poor siblings meaningful income or cash flow.
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/2925...-back-team Quote:"Here's something I hope baseball fans understand," Ricketts told ESPN. "Most baseball owners don't take money out of their team. They raise all the revenue they can from tickets and media rights, and they take out their expenses, and they give all the money left to their GM to spend. The league itself does not make a lot of cash. I think there is a perception that we hoard cash and we take money out and it's all sitting in a pile we've collected over the years. On revenue sharing and other leagues: Quote:"They create a sense of partnership with the players because a rising tide lifts all the boats," he said. "It's always been considered something the MLBPA doesn't want to go for because they see it as a salary cap. They're clear on that. I don't agree. If it's done right, it can give incentives for the players and the owners to grow the game. It could be part of the next CBA if people are willing to discuss it. I don't think it was ever intended to be a Trojan horse or try to sneak one in and get people comfortable with something else. In the long run I don't think this a bad idea. In the short run I don't think it's an option anymore."
