2022 Team

Will be very sad to see Wilco go but think about that all that payroll flexibility

So...we aren't trying to be competitive in 2022.

I forgot that Yan Gomes was still in MLB. Seems like money well spent....

I for one am glad we signed the scuzziest looking player in MLB since Justin Turner.

Gomes signing fixes an issue which may have cost last years team 2-3 wins. Now, improve this squad by another 25 - 30 wins and the 2022 squad could be competitive.

Matt Spiegel just tweeted he hears the Cubs are in deep talks with Stroman.

I would be really pleased with that acquisition.

Stroman-Hendricks-Miley is actually a damned respectable 1-2-3. Not a World Series rotation, but it would definitely make the team more competitive.

Would welcome the addition of Stroman. Still concerned with 3 contact oriented pitchers, 4 if you assume Mills in rotation - coupled no longer having a plus defensive infield. Stroman is one of the best free agent arms remaining and should be able to pitch competitively for at least 3 seasons

Stroman has been hitting the like button a lot on a lot of Cubs-Stro tweets. Either this is confirming his signature or he is a master troller

I love Stroman. Makes me wonder now if some other big things are in the works post-lockout? Good job Jed.

Also, I'd be shocked if Mills makes the rotation now. I'd prefer a Hendricks/Stroman/Miley/Alzolay/Steele rotation until Killian is ready (and displaces one of Alzolay or Steele).

Very happy to see this. Obviously curious to see the contract details, but he was one of my favorite targets for sure.

Well done on Stroman. Cubs need this signing - even if they aren’t competitive this season
