Milton Bradley and Cubs agree to deal?
<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Cubs chairman Crane Kenney said he was impressed at how committed Bradley was to joining the team and that he was patient enough for Hendry to do his research. The contract will pay Bradley $5 million the first year, plus half of a $4 million signing bonus -- the other half will be paid in 2010. It also includes incentives related to games played.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So, with only $7M committed to Bradley, there should be some more money to play with.

That's good to know. Hopefully we don't waste it on some middling SP.

Thanks for posting the videos clapp. Bradley sure can hit.

Rok, even if we don't get Peavy I hope that we get a pitcher through a trade and not this terrible free agent class.

Just saw the replay of him on Tribune Live.
I gotta say, for the first time since Game 1 of these past playoffs am I genuinely excited about the Cubs. Im looking forward to seeing him play for us, just like someone said its definitely going to be a fun ride. And I think he can potentially have a really great season

Well, in that first clip he certainly didn't say or do anything that wouldn't put him in a positive light. At least initially.
I got nothin'.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->The third year of Milton Bradley's contract turns into a club option if he has serious health problems this year.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So, there it is. Perfect.

<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->Bradley gets a $4 million signing bonus, $5 million in 2009, $9 million in 2010 and $12 million in 2011. However, according to the Sun-Times, the third year would become a club option (with a $2 million buyout) season if certain conditions were met in 2009. He's obviously have to miss considerable time with an injury for the clause to go into effect. Whether or not it's tied to his surgically repaired right knee is unclear.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

So the signing bonus is definitely spread out, and that's why he'd only be making 7 mil in 2009. I like this deal a lot more now that I see the breakdown. Only on the hook for 20 mil in the worst case scenario that he is hurt a lot.

Damn, Jim covered his ass well, it seems. This makes me even happier about the deal.
I'm like veryzer...a wild-eyed, fiery lunatic in a Cub uni?
Bliss.

Plus, he's damn talented, so it's not like we're adding freaking Turk Wendall, or some other similar nutcase.

The fact that he is about as talented as he is crazy seems to get glossed over quite a bit. He led the American League in ops last year, that is very good.

Joe Magrane keeps saying how Milton had some of the most competitive at bats he saw last year. He loves the move, pretty much everybody does outside of Olney it seems. Magrane also said he thinks this is a 100 win team and "You could pick this team to win the World Series" I believe were his exact words. Oh, and MLB Network rules. Hot Stove absolutely blows away BB Tonight.

Clapp I have WOW cable, which does not carry the MLB network. Do you no if there are more of the segments like you posted about Bradley available on line?

I don't get it either cuz I have DISH, but here is their site. http://mlbnetwork.mlb.com/network/index.jsp

They seem to add a few clips there from time to time.
