2020 Team
Quote: If changes don’t occur, I’ll still be a Cub and baseball fan but expectations for team will be tempered so as opposed to ‘Cubs will make playoffs’ mindset as in last 4 seasons, I’ll return to ‘Cubs could make playoffs if ...’ I’ll still enjoy baseball, Wrigley, and Cub wins but interest in club will wane

Who the fuck do you think you're kidding?

That is the case at least with respect to the home jerseys.

Could be worse, like MLS

Yeah, this is one of those things I think people freak out too much about.  Would I rather not have the Nike logo there or the New Era logo on the side of the hats?  I guess so.  But it doesn't really bother me and it's minor compared to other sports.

Still don't see any chance of a trade until the service time grievance decision is made, but aside from that, Philly isn't exactly an ideal trading partner. Not sure I see a fit. Would prefer to deal with the Braves or some team like San Diego.

It does look kinda dumb.

Yeah.  It would fit better on the arm but I get why Nike wants it there.

Hell, the Oklahoma City Thunder have an advertisement for a chain of truck stops on their jerseys.

I'm really irritated about this Bryant thing. Seriously? We're going to trade a World Series hero, an MVP, and maybe a top 3 Cub of any of our lifetimes because of a bullshit salary cap excuse? Oh, and he's 27 years old. Do they actually think they'll get back equal value for him? This is idiotic.

I'm hoping the rumors are bullshit. It's incredible that I'm so irritated with a team that finally won a WS only three years ago.

I don't see it, but if he's going to walk in 2 years, might as well at least see what he is worth to other teams. But if the FO doesn't get at least a couple of can't miss studs in return, you just don't do it. Can't afford to screw this up.

When was the last time you had a big market team fail to extend a big young star they drafted? It's kind of insane. I have to agree with Clapp, I realize he might prefer to play out west but if they wanted to keep him they could.

How could the Cubs possibly afford a guy like Bryant?

Yeah yeah

Agree that teams roster hasnt produced consistently so roster requires changes so it makes sense to listen to potential offers. Front office needs to get blown away to trade Bryant. Regardless, it looks like Cubs are crying poverty

I love KB, but I don't think he deserves Arenado money given recent injuries. Plus he will be 30 once he hits the open market. What does a reasonable deal look like, and would he even accept one from the Cubs if offered?

Can we even "afford" a projected $5 mil/year FA signing at this point?
