Quote:Corey Black threw six no-hit innings at Double-A today.

Was it another pitcher or is this his second no-hit appearance of the season?

Quote:Right-hander C.J. Edwards, the Cubs’ top pitching prospect, left Class AA Tennessee for Chicago on Wednesday to be examined Thursday by team doctors after experiencing discomfort in his shoulder during a scheduled side session.

It’s unclear how serious the injury is. Edwards did not seem to believe it was severe.

Baseball America’s 28th-ranked prospect overall, Edwards earned a victory against Birmingham in his most recent start, pitching a season-high six innings Sunday.

Acquired from the Texas Rangers in the Matt Garza trade last July, Edwards is 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA in four starts with 20 strikeouts (and eight walks) in 20 2/3 innings.

Hopefully it's nothing but this why at some point you have to keep some of the good players you have instead of trying to trade them for prospects.

This has been a glorious day from beginning to end.

We've actually had a pretty good run with pitchers staying healthy last couple of years, believe it or not.

That makes absolutely no sense (shockingly).

A. The Garza trade was a great one even without Edwards.

B. Does anybody actually think it's the team's plan to just trade veterans for prospects in perpetuity?  I don't think even Ivy has that point of view.

Sadly, I would much rather read that he felt elbow discomfort instead of shoulder.

That's cuz we haven't had any good ones.

Yes, our horrible pitchers are quite healthy.  So there is that.

Neil Ramirez was just called up.  That makes three of the four players involved in the trade contributing at the ML level, for a guy who pitched for the Rangers for two months.

Per everyone on Twitter, the MRI on Edwards is good.  Some fatigue and inflammation, but everything is structurally sound.  He will rest for a few weeks before resuming throwing.
