Farm System
It was just a ST game, but there was so much good and so much typical in that game.
I got nothin'.

Lots of scouts share your opinion. Sheffield also came up at SS, moved to 3B, then to LF.

Its that swing man.

Tons of good chatter about Almora too.  I think he's going to end up being an All Star.

God willing, there will be 3 guys (Baez, Almora and Bryant) that will be very good.

I got nothin'.

Just to temper my optimism with a good dose of reality... that crew of prospects got a lot of AB's last night with many of them returning to minor league camp today.  The team combined to go 2-of-12 with RISP and left the bases loaded with 1-out in the top of the 8th (with 3 K's on the inning).  Scoring 1 run would have won the game.  More very typical Cubs behavior.

But Baez and Olt did hit homeruns.  So there's that!

I got nothin'.

And if Olt and another 2nd tier prospect or two take major steps forward over 2014-15, we all could be talking about watching meaningful baseball games very very soon. Of course, things always have a way of not going our way, so we'll see.

I'm hoping that Olt wins the starting 3B job.  It seems likely he'll either be the starting 3B or start in Iowa.  Ace thinks it's a little better than 50/50 for Iowa.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.  [Image: ITgoyeg.png]

All Olt needs to do is prove his shoulder can handle 3B, otherwise I see little reason why he should be sent down at age 25 going on 26. His time is at hand.

Ton of chatter yesterday about Jen-Ho Tseng.  Nasty CB.

I think we have a future #4/5 combo for the lineup in Baez/Olt. And Baez needs a lot more practice on his footwork at 2B, but it's only his 2nd game there.

It's a little weird to me that Baez rolls his ankle like that in each of these HRs.

If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy

I wish Baez didn't think he could hit every single pitch that's thrown. I feel like I've seen him K in 3 straight a lot.
