Doc Halladay retired.  Shame it had to end on injuries.

I'm a big fan of Doc's. That no-hitter against the Reds in the playoffs was one of my favorite postseason moments.

Yep.  Guy was such a workhorse.  HOFer?  I think yes.

That's a guy whose total stats aren't eye-popping, but when you delve into his prime years was clearly the best pitcher in MLB over a 5-6 year period. Will there ever be another SP to complete 70 games and toss 20 shutouts? He gets my vote.

That complete game stat is what will always stand out about Halladay for me.

Mets give Colon 2 year $20 MM deal.

Isn't Colon 40 years old? Maybe the Wilpons have stock in a pharmaceutical company that plans to continue stocking Bartolo with his PED supplies? Hey as long as the Mets were on the AARP movement with Granderson, Colon can also get the early bird special.

Guess would be that Mets needed a replacement for Harvey for 2014 season so figured they can trade away Colon + cash for 2015 to Cubs or another small market team for mid level prospect.

Yes. But he was pretty damn good last year. I think a 1 year $12 million deal would have been more prudent, but I don't think it's crazy given the market.

Yes, most notably Tony LaRussa.

I guess a few million in the bank and a couple of WS rings is enough for Theriot. Heading home to bang Cajun milfs till the money runs out then a dissapointing second career on the autograph show circuit?

Seriously, wtf?

Nyjer Morgan is attempting a comeback.  I like this.  It gives pitchers one more chance to nail that fucker right between his eyes.  Put some heat on it!

I'm confused. What about his retirement surprises you?

That he thinks he'll nail more pussy in retirement.

He's hardly the worst player in the majors. I don't know why he's washed up. Why didn't he play last year?

He didn't play last year because he was waiting for a starting gig that never came. He didn't want to settle for a utility job IIRC.

And he was pretty close to the worst player in the majors. Last 6 seasons OPS+: 71, 93, 83, 71, 85, 83. Career OPS+ of 83. 100 is replacement level.

Theriot's biggest contribution to the game is that he was the inspiration for TOOTBLAN.

Last I heard, Theriot was attempting a 2nd career as an agent. I'm sure we'll hear from this douche again quite soon.

I'm somehow unfamiliar with that term.
