I think we will in the upcoming offseason, but we won't get anything out of the deal, we'll end up paying most of his remaining contract, and one way or another it will most likely come back to bite us in the behind.
I just hope Z doesn't end up on the south side, or at the very least he needs to be out of the NL so that we don't have to face him ever.

Why do you think he's coming back on the road?

He'll have to show his face at Wrigley at some point.

Good find, rok. Surprised he didn't save that for his Insider column ...

I'm sure he's thrilled. Because the logical idea is that he wanted to drive down the value of a guy he signed to a 90 million dollar contract, so he could trade him for cents on the dollar. Because that would totally reflect well on his tenure.

Since you are good at bringing things around to a calmer, more rational view of Hendry's actions...what insight can you offer into his tendency to throw expensive players under the media bus when they go nuts and may need to be dealt?

Cubs turned down an offer for Zambrano already: Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo.

But by putting Zambrano in the bullpen, isn't that exactly what he did?

I guess if you consider admitting to the human beings on the planet with a functioning brain cell that Bradley and Zambrano might not be the bestest teammates ever "throwing them under the bus", then Hendry is guilty.
I'm sure, had Hendry kept his mouth shut, we'd be deluged with offers for Zambrano right now. Because that's totally the kind of thing that opposing teams only find out about when GM's talk about it in public.

No, that's not exactly what he did. He put him in the bullpen because he thought there were 5 other guys who would do a better job. Did Hendry put Z back into the rotation, because he somehow knew Zambrano would completely fucking melt down in front of the cameras?
If you guys honestly believe this was all a plot so Hendry could get Z to drop his no trade clause, then I don't know what to tell you. If you honestly believe this was a plan by Hendry to devalue a 90 million dollar investment HE made, I don't know what to tell you. If you honestly believe a GM who is fighting to hold onto his job would INTENTIONALLY throw a guy with a contract like Zambrano's under the bus, I don't know what to tell you.
