I felt like he was putting words in Piniella's mouth, but maybe that's just me.

That Rosenbloom article freaking nails it.

That article was a little harsh. Rosendick draws a lot of his own conclusions from a few benign quotes from Lou. Trash journalism.

He is a fucking douche. He is unlistenable when he is on the Score.

Judge the song, not the singer.
He may be off-base 90% of the time, but he's 100% accurate as a pinpoint needle on this one, about both Lou and Jim.

Edit: You know, I take that back. He's not 100% accurate...Lou may not have known exactly what he was getting into, but I'm sure he was somewhat cognizant of the intensity here. So the writer may have overstated some things.
Of course, you could make a point that he understated other things, like Lou just collecting the massive paycheck, instead of killing himself to make the team better. I think it was pretty obvious that that was what he was doing in his Tampa Bay years, before he even got here.

Seriously I fucking HATE him. When he's on I refuse to listen. I wonder if he's got an axe to grind with the Cubs as well, cause he's just as bad as Stone. Rosenbloom does nothing but talk shit about them...and 9 times out of 10 its venomous.

Personally, whether or not anyone likes Rosenbloom as a person, as a writer, as a father or a husband is irrelevant. That article was spot on.

I just don't understand how it is spot on if he made up Lou Piniella's thoughts for him.

He quoted Lou throughout the piece.

Yeah, he did. Then he proceded to make up what those quotes meant in his own words. Maybe what he reported is what Lou really meant, but until Rosenbloom proves he can read the thoughts of people, I'm going to say his article was not spot on.

From TCR:
QUOTE In case you doubted it, Joe Girardi is more interested in winning another World Series right now than in discussing the soon-to-be-open job with the Cubs.
From the New York Daily News (which broke the Piniella story in the first place):

“I figured this would come up once Lou announced his retirement. I have a responsibility to this club and the guys in that room, and that’s my concern. People can speculate all they want, but that’s my concern right now. I don’t really think much about it.”

And also this:

“I love it here; I’ve loved my time here,” Girardi said. “I put my kids in school here and they’re enrolled to go to school here next fall. There’s going to be talk; I grew up there, I grew up a Cubs fan, I went to Northwestern, I lived in Chicago. But my concern is right now.”
I get this weird sense that he is definitely interested in the job, even though I still believe he'd be a fool to walk away from NY.
