Yes, Riggleman appears to be a complete ass for quitting mid-season but strongly believe that there's more to the story which I don't know now nor probably will ever know the full story. Riggleman has been in the leagues for a long time and don't recall him having a reputation as a jerk.
My guess is that some of the story will come out and he maybe partially justified but I'm guessing. As it looks now, he's an ass.

I'm trying to imagine what "just a conversation" would be. What would the bottom be?
- No we won't make a decision about an extension till the season's over.
- We'll extend you if you reach the following benchmark.
- We don't have any plans to extend you.
It's hard to imagine the point of it unless he's looking for more than "just a conversation."

What if the players in the lockeroom are refusing to listen to him cause he's a lameduck? I'd think that after managing in the big leagues for ten plus seasons it would get a little old, having players on one of the losingest franchises in the recent history of baseball blow you off right after it appears you have righted the ship. I'm not saying that did happen, but I would understand his response if that is the case.

If I take your inference correctly then in that scenario it still sounds like he'd be after more than "just a conversation." I'm not sure there's a hypothetical where his claim of wanting "just a conversation" holds up. It's either a meaningless conversation or it's an opening of negotiations. I'm just net seeing the middle ground unless what he wanted to talk about is Rizzo giving him a public vote of confidence (still pretty meaningless).

I watched pretty much the entire Dodgers/Mets game last night... only because of Vin. He's the only baseball announcer of my lifetime where I watch games solely because he's the announcer, and I do it frequently.
