Realistic LH OF'er Options - Andy - 12-08-2008 Stolen and slightly modified from a post on ITI. The standard ones that we've all talked about: Jeremy Hermida Bobby Abreu Milton Bradley Raul Ibanez Adam Dunn Some young guys that we may be able to trade for: Jason Kubel Ryan Church Luke Scott Mark Teahan Some older guys that could be possible through trade or FA: Randy Winn Ken Griffey I'd love Hermida, but I don't know we have what the Marlins would want. Abreu will cost a ton and be injured a portion of the year, but would be great. Bradley is often injured and a bit unstable. Ibanez is going to be THE OF free agent that everyone if bidding for, so his tag will be high. Dunn is a mixed bag. Kubel is interesting coming out of Minnesota. They'll want something decent in exchange for him though. Church might be expendable if the Mets sign a veteran OF'er. He'd be a great addition... but at what price? Winn may have been tradeable by the Giants before they started beefing up their team for next year. If they think they have a legitimite chance at winning the division next season, he won't be available. Otherwise, we may be able to trade for him. Griffey is interesting to me. He's still got something in the tank but is definitely at the end of his career. Depending upon his pricetag, he may be worth taking a look at. Realistic LH OF'er Options - sleepyhead - 12-08-2008 I'll take, in this order 1. Hermida 2. Ibanez 3. Bradley 4. Abreu Realistic LH OF'er Options - Fella - 12-08-2008 QUOTE (sleepyhead @ Dec 8 2008, 09:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I'll take, in this order 1. Bradley's injury history worries me too much, he kinda seems like the offensive equivalent to Harden. I also don't think Abreu is going to get as much as once thought in this market. Realistic LH OF'er Options - Destined - 12-08-2008 Bradley cannot be signed. We cant let that monster roam right field. He is streakier than Fonz, more injury prone and talks a thousand times as much. He would wreck the clubhouse, and I dont think DLee, DeRo and Dempster would embrace him. I was at that game in 04 when he threw the bottle at a fan in Dodger Stadium, that man is crazy. STAY AWAY! With that said, I'd love Hermida and Church but I think our safest bet is Ibanez, because the well of prospects is drying up with the trades for Harden, Trachsel, and soon to be Peavy. Ibanez is a given 20 HR and 80-85 RBI season at minimum. Griffey not so much. Realistic LH OF'er Options - sleepyhead - 12-08-2008 I agree Ibanez is the best of the FA options, but several things still really scare me about him. 1.) He's old 2.) He's not so good with the glove 3.) He's going to cost a lot because he's the best FA option I vote for a trade for Hermida, DeJesus, Church or someone like that OR try a 1 year deal for Dunn or one of the other FA's. Realistic LH OF'er Options - rok - 12-08-2008 We don't have nearly enough to trade for any of those 3 (maybe Church) unless the Peavy deal doesn't go down, and even then we probably don't have enough. We need to upgrade RF via FA. Veal isn't ready, neither is Paps nor Colvin, Ceda is gone and Hill has been playing like a bloody wanker. That said...I think I'd still rather see Abreu or Ibanez. Realistic LH OF'er Options - Coldneck - 12-08-2008 If we sign Milton, he batter not get off to a crappy start. If he does, and the fans are all over him like Strap, it could get ugly. I'm talking homicidal ugly. The Chicago media and fans are much tougher than Cleveland, LA, Oakland, SD, and Texas. If he doesn't start off hot right off the bat, it could turn into a difficult situation for everybody.
