Fangrapghs has some pretty easily accessible uzr ratings.

fangrapghs link

I admit that there are definite flaws with this, while everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt, there is some valuable and usable information. With the wild swings from year to year, career numbers seem to hold a lot more weight with me. All of the number I will be using are based on a 150 game season, the data that fangrapghs is using is all compiled by baseball info solutions(John Dwan).

A few things that I found very interesting

Fukudome was a -54 in centerfield and a positive 13 in right.

Pie is a careeer +11 in in center..

Adam Dunn career -64 in right, career -10 in left, career -12 at first, career -11 as an outfielder.

Aramis Ramirez was negative 4 last year, and is a 0 for his career.

Ryan Theriot for his career a zero at ss, a +19 at second base.

Derosa has been -3 to 4 for his career at SS,2nd and third. As an outfielder +12.

Fontenot has been a +12 at second.

Milton Bradley has a +4 in center(where he has played a vast majority of his games), and a +15 in right.

Soriano has a +5 as an outfielder while with the Cubs. I don't think uzr takes arm into account at all, which means Soriano has been better with us than I would have thought from watching the games. Soriano was also a -9 as a secondbaseman for his career.

Some intereting 08 numbers. Fukudome was the only regular to be in the top three at his position. Edmunds was a -17 in center. Cabrera, Rollins and Hardy were the best shortstops. Lowell, Beltre and Longoria were the best at third. Winn, Fukudome and Giles in right. Gomez, Sizemore, and Cameron in center. Crawford, Lewis and Holliday in left.

How do those numbers compare to what you guys see from those guys?

Hey Kid.

One surprise is seeing how good Fontenot is defensively (and at an important defensive position). Given Font's excellent year with the bat, too, I just don't see how you can justify starting DeRosa over him at 2B (unless it's a straight platoon).

My only beef with the numbers Savant posted are that the -/+ numbers are on a % scale...thus, it's pretty clear that Fuk isn't anywhere near that bad a CFer, just that in the few times he has played there, he didn't do too well in the strange position. Same with Dunn in RF.

I've been as big of a Fontenot backer as anybody, but I wouldn't make him the primary 2b over DeRosa, no way. Fontenot's gotta show it a bit more before ya even consider that.

The thing is, DeRosa can also play other positions, so it's not like he won't get playing time. In fact, given the inevitable 40-50 games that Bradley will miss, he'll likely get a lot of work in RF.

Let's just hope Soriano and Bradley work out a deal to spend their DL time separately.

Oh I'm fine with DeRo playing anywhere and I've been fine with the idea of Fontenot at 2B, and DeRo in RF. I figure if Fontenot faded, we trade for a right fielder before the deadline. But if we sign Bradley or some other RF, and we're at opening day, I don't see how you could really start Fontenot over DeRosa at 2B.

What, you don't want to see the ferocious Gaithright/Johnson/Fukudome outfield?

Can explain uzr a little...perhaps, contextualization and evaluation?

Also, we should add fangraphs to the "useful resources" tab.

That is the process of storing sabermetrics stats in condoms, swallowing them and smuggling them into the US.
