sheets - BT - 12-22-2008 I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but would it make any sense to make a run at Sheets, assuming his price tag comes down due to a lack of other interested teams? I know he is an injury waiting to happen, but doesn't seem like we would need to go even 4 years for a contract, and if there is any team equipped to deal with an injury to a starter, it would be the Cubs. Put another way, if we sign him, we would assume his arm would explode, but if the Cards sign him we would assume Cy Young, right? sheets - AlexV - 12-22-2008 <!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but would it make any sense to make a run at Sheets<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> There's were I stopped reading. sheets - Coldneck - 12-22-2008 <!--quoteo(post=6506:date=Dec 22 2008, 10:01 PM:name=BT)-->QUOTE (BT @ Dec 22 2008, 10:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but would it make any sense to make a run at Sheets, assuming his price tag comes down due to a lack of other interested teams? He's no less healthy than Harden. sheets - ruby23 - 12-22-2008 I don't really see any reason to spend any FA $$$ on another SP, we have bigger fish to fry. Plus, I hate his fucking guts. sheets - BT - 12-22-2008 <!--quoteo(post=6508:date=Dec 22 2008, 09:11 PM:name=AlexV)-->QUOTE (AlexV @ Dec 22 2008, 09:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec--><!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <!--quotec-->I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but would it make any sense to make a run at Sheets<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> There's were I stopped reading. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> And why is that, exactly? sheets - Clapp - 12-22-2008 I lost any respect I had for Sheets when he took himself out of the HUGE game in September(I think). I don't really like the's kind of guy we should be trying to add. He's never won 15 games in a season, and he's rarely healthy. It's hard to justify giving a guy like that over 10 million dollars per, and that's why the Yankees are probably the only team that will. sheets - kbwsb - 12-22-2008 I love his talent, and would be fine with adding him. But as Ruby said, we have bigger fish to fry than SP. We have great big holes in 2/3rds of our outfield. sheets - AlexV - 12-22-2008 <!--quoteo(post=6515:date=Dec 22 2008, 09:24 PM:name=BT)-->QUOTE (BT @ Dec 22 2008, 09:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec--><!--quoteo(post=6508:date=Dec 22 2008, 09:11 PM:name=AlexV)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (AlexV @ Dec 22 2008, 09:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec--><!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <!--quotec-->I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but would it make any sense to make a run at Sheets<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> There's were I stopped reading. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> And why is that, exactly? <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Hendry's not looking for starting pitching, he's looking for a right fielder, we're taking enough risk with Harden in the rotation, and we don't have the money to get him. sheets - BT - 12-23-2008 <!--quoteo(post=6530:date=Dec 22 2008, 09:58 PM:name=AlexV)-->QUOTE (AlexV @ Dec 22 2008, 09:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec--><!--quoteo(post=6515:date=Dec 22 2008, 09:24 PM:name=BT)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BT @ Dec 22 2008, 09:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec--><!--quoteo(post=6508:date=Dec 22 2008, 09:11 PM:name=AlexV)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (AlexV @ Dec 22 2008, 09:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec--><!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <!--quotec-->I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but would it make any sense to make a run at Sheets<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> There's were I stopped reading. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> So he spent 3 weeks talking trade with Towers about Peavy (who would cost us upwards of 80 million dollars, and an assload of prospects), but he's not looking for starting pitching and we can't afford one? Our coaches already devote too much time to risk management as it is. sheets - BT - 12-23-2008 <!--quoteo(post=6540:date=Dec 22 2008, 10:18 PM:name=rok)-->QUOTE (rok @ Dec 22 2008, 10:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->We have enough pussies on this team, and I couldn't stand to have both Sheets and Harden on the same staff, constantly worrying that one or both is one pitch away from ending their respective seasons. Relative to recent years though, our pussy ratio as dipped quite a bit. |
